Civilian Newsletter, February 2007

Happy New Year.  Welcome to the first Civilian Newsletter for 2007.  The first meeting was held on Friday, January 19 in Vanport.  The civilian meetings will start promptly at 7:30 p.m. (one half hour before the general meeting.)

An ambitious and varied schedule was discussed for this year's activities.  Something for every civilian be it man or woman.  There is sure to be something that every civilian will be interested in attending even if it is just for a few hours.

Rose Shrum is the Civilian Vice President this year.  Since we will no longer be supporting a cook house, everyone will be expected to help with the meals for the civilians at the designated events.  There will be fashion shows scheduled on a can do and weather permitting basis.  No shows will be done during the week because of work constraints of most of the members.

Listed below is a preliminary list of events that the Civilians are planning on attending:

March 31/April 1                   Maple Syrup Festival
Doing a fashion show on Saturday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. on the Main Stage -- weather permitting.  Even if you can only make it for part of the day, please plan on attending.  Let us make this the best ever. Meals will be prepared for the Civilians.  Working on a Sanitary Commission Scenario.  Bring knitting, sewing, etc.  More info to be distributed at the March 9th meeting.
